Extension for the Deadline for Migration to Second Generation E-Passport

The Government of Kenya has extended the deadline for the replacement of the old passports with the new generation e-passport  by a further 10 months  until 31st December 2021.

The Government has been in the process of phasing out the  old-generation passport, however due to the Covid-19 pandemic  that scaled down  the operations of immigration services  in  an effort to mitigate the spread of the Virus; In that regards it has  considered to extend the Deadline so as to make up for the disruption that has been caused by the pandemic.

It is worth noting that all factors remaining constant this is expected to be the last deadline and  starting the 1st January 2022  the old  dark blue passport  will be null and void and  no Kenyans will be able to travel internationally  without a valid  East African Community biometric –e passport which is  sky blue in colour.

All passport Applications should be submitted online via an Ecitizen Account and every individual should ensure to use their own Ecitizen account.  For Children under the age of 18 years  , either of the parent should submit the application on their behalf using their Ecitizen Account. Thereafter one should book for an appointment of Biometric and taking of Digital photo as well as the submission of the hard copies of the application and other requirements.
